This article is designed to help you configure and set up Pushpay and Fellowship One to allow transaction information to be passed directly from Pushpay into F1.
What is it?
Churches who are using Fellowship One can optionally have Pushpay integrate with it. When payments are made through Pushpay to your organization, Pushpay will automatically create people (if they don’t exist already) and contribution receipts inside Fellowship One with the corresponding data from the payment.
How does it work?
Pushpay works in real time behind the scenes to make the integration experience seamless. Once enabled, Pushpay handles every payment and automatically creates the necessary contribution records within your Fellowship One account.
Pushpay will also create person records if it can’t find a match based on an email address. This way, contribution receipts are always associated with a person and no data is lost.
Step 1: in Fellowship One
- Log into your Fellowship One portal.
- Click Admin.
- Click Applications.
- Click Pushpay under 3rd Party.
- Click Grant access.
- You will see confirmation that Pushpay has been enabled.
Step 2: in Pushpay
- Log into your Pushpay account at pushpay.com/login?view=1.
- Click Settings.
- Click Integrations.
- Click Connect integration beneath the Fellowship One header.
- Enter Fellowship One Church Code and click Connect.
- You will be redirected to Fellowship One to authorize the Pushpay integration.
Step 3: in Fellowship One
- Enter Fellowship One credentials and click Login.
- You will be redirected to Pushpay to complete integration.
Step 4: in Pushpay
- Select a default status for people that are created by Pushpay in Fellowship One. We recommend using "New from Online Giving" or creating a custom status for Pushpay.
- Select your Fallback fund for each active listing.
- Click Setup.
- Select matching funds for all your existing Pushpay funds.
- Click Import.
- Click Enable integration.
- Our people matching algorithm first looks at donor email, followed by phone number, first name, and finally last name. Once Pushpay finds a match in Fellowship One, the donor's F1 Person Id is saved against their Pushpay account for future donations. If we are unable to find a match based on the details mentioned, a new person is created.
Newly Created People
- If we are unable to find a match based on the people matching criteria, a new person is created. The status of this newly created person can be set in the F1 integration settings in Pushpay. You can also link a custom status you added in F1, such as “New from Pushpay.” If a newly created person is a duplicate of an existing record, you can merge the records together in F1, ensuring the newly created person is merged as the "master record." Doing so will ensure future transactions from that donor are matched to the correct profile in F1.
- When a transaction is sent to Fellowship One, you have the option of these transactions being tagged with a Pushpay sub-status. To set this up, you’ll need to create a sub-status named “Pushpay” under both the ACH and Credit Card types.
Occasionally we can’t find a reliable match for a person in Fellowship One. This could be for several reasons, but is usually because there are multiple people within a household with the same email address. When this happens, we will alert your organization by emailing you at the address listed under Settings > Notifications.
